Our new family quilt

Spence's sister, Michele, is such a talented quilter. She has been making beautiful quilts for years now, & decided a while ago to make one for each of her siblings' families for the Christmas gifting rotation. We happened to be last on the rotation, so we have watched her make beautiful quilts for others through the years, excitedly waiting to see what would happen when it was our turn. The wait is over! And it is absolutely gorgeous!!

Michele mostly took the colors from the "Flandro" painting we have hanging on our family room wall.
You can see it here.

The title and ID on the back.
"SKAK" is our family acronym and stands for "Spence, Kristen and Kids."

If you look closely at the stitching along each side (click on the picture for a larger image), you can see a nice scrolling design. She copied it from the wrought iron we have hanging above our front door!

Each of the stars represents one of our children. They go in order, left to right and top to bottom. Hidden in each star is a small block with the first letter of their name. Can you see them?

Each corner of the turqouise square has a letter stitched into it, spelling out SKAK.

We, all of us, absolutely love it!  As I was pointing out all of the details to the kids this morning, each of them kept saying things like, "wow" and "that's so cool!"  And this from teenage boys, too.  Thank you so much, Michele!  I am always so amazed at your skill and talent.  We will treasure it.

I'm SO HAPPY you like it! I didn't know if the colors would match since I couldn't exactly check them. :) There were lots of times where I thought I was in way over my head (and I was!). I'll have to send you the pic I got the wrought iron pattern from--it's one Natalie randomly took while we were there for Easter last year. Love you guys!!!
