I've been reading the Book of Mormon for the past two months as the result of a challenge. Now, I normally read the Book of Mormon with the family each night (slowly) and as part of my personal scripture study (somewhat slowly) but this time I'm really diving in. Elder Tate issued a challenge during our last Stake Conference. Read the Book of Mormon three times in three months. That works out to about 18 pages each day. The first time through, use a regular pencil to highlight how the Lord deals with his children. The second time through, use a red pencil to highlight references to Christ and the saving doctrines. The third time through, use a blue pencil to highlight anything you feel is the Lord speaking to you directly. I've been needing a challenge like this, and as someone who can read a novel in a day (and recently did), I figured I'd better step up to the plate. I'm pleased to say that I am still right on schedule, three days into my third month, and I'm already dreading the challenge being over. These ancients have become so real to me. The messages are so clear and true. I'm in love with this book!
Elder Holland's talk during General Conference last fall was so electrifying to me. A portion of it is below. I challenge you to read the whole talk! And, while I'm at it, I challenge anyone and everyone who reads this blog to commit to Elder Tate's challenge as well. And, lemme know. I'd love to hear about your experience with it!

That is so impressive!! Good for you! I wanted to let you know that last Sunday Natalie (on her own) decided to fast for Spence & Dave. The faith of a child...I hope there's good news soon!
Wow. I am about to dive in for my virtue value project(finishing the experiences first) but this sounds so intriquing. Maybe I'll go four rounds. Maybe that could be your next month challenge, I think you are to go through searching for all the ways the Book of Mormon talks about virtue. Anyway, see the Personal Progress book. Good for you! Good for all of us!
You go girlfriend!
Sister Beck issued a B.O.M. reading challenge at Women's Conference. It required obtaining a new BOM, so as soon as I get one, I'm going to get started.
Thankfully, the challenge that touched my heart only requires one reading, with no time limit. :o)
